Proverbs 12:1 NIV

“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.”

Hmmm, I’m not sure I have always proudly saluted this verse. “Loves discipline” has not always described me. Let me clear this up a bit. As parents, Jennifer and I put a lot of effort into the subject of proper discipline when it came to our children. We certainly did not always get it right. As a matter of fact I remember one particular conversation when my son looked at me and told me as I disciplined him that I was wrong. I paused a moment and than sincerely responded, “You know, you might be right. I could very well be wrong in handling this. I guess in a few years we may look back and realize I was wrong and you were right. Today though I have to do the best I can with what I know.” That didn’t satisfy him. The beauty of this verse is that God always acts out of love for us, never out of anger and never ever gets it wrong. I don’t like to be disciplined but I can certainly embrace it as truly for my best knowing Who it is coming from and why. Today discover why your loving Father may be disciplining you and learn.  #BeTheEdge
