Proverbs 12:12 NIV

“The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures.”

This person is a parasite. Hey, Solomon’s implication, not mine. This person is never satisfied. They even desire to suck the life out of other wicked people. They never have enough. By contrast the true God follower has sufficient because of His hand and their effort and are satisfied with it. I sat with a friend the other day as we marveled at how good our lives are. Beautiful homes, great families, plenty to eat. Needs met. Even some pleasant “wants” met. The wicked often raise wicked offspring by instilling in them a sense that they never have enough and everyone else is fair game to get more from no matter how. The follower of God tends to raise grateful, hard working children who understand that God has blessed them with the ability to learn, earn and grow. The main contrast in this verse is that the wicked are looking for a fortress to protect them. Even to the point of taking other evil men’s fortresses. The God follower is stable because his roots go deep into the Lord and his foundation cannot be shaken. Today find your strength and source in God alone. #BeTheEdge

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Jesus
