“A person is praised according to their prudence, and one with a warped mind is despised.”
I had a conversation the other day about the difference between a job and a calling. It may seem somewhat obvious. They can look the same when being observed by others. There is nothing inherently wrong or better about one over the other. The biggest difference is probably the impact on our life energy. One wears us down while the other, while it can be exhausting, energizes us at a soul level. One doesn’t end quite soon enough while the other has to be pried away from our being. One we are created for the other we do because, at the time, we must. It’s the actor waiting tables while hitting every audition they can. This is one reason that The Edge ministry puts so much effort into helping discover how God uniquely built each of us. The phrase Solomon uses here “according to their prudence” is telling us that we are to use “intelligent observance” to understand what we are to ultimately achieve by the end of life. Then we are to use “the best means of attaining” those ends”. In other words we are called to find out the will of God and how to fulfil it. We discover our gifting, passions and calling and then pursue God’s plan to work through them to influence this world for His Kingdom. Do you want a doctor working on you who see what they do as a job or a calling? Today discover your calling and be sure you are pursuing it. #BeTheEdge
