“Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things.”
Scripture speaks a lot about the good things God has for His children. It also talks of the consequences awaiting the lost and the willful sinners. Of all the good things God offers perhaps none is more valuable or needed these days than peace. What a powerful gift is God’s genuine, soul peace that cannot be understood in the midst of today’s challenges and stressors. This verse tells us that the righteous gets other good things as well. You may be in need of them also but honestly who couldn’t use at least a bit more peace in their journey today. Another translation of the word “trouble” in this verse is “evil”. It brings to mind scenes from a supernatural horror movie where the evil in the movie pursues the characters. In the same way evil will endlessly chase the person who does not pursue God in its attempt to overcome and destroy them. As frightening as that sounds it is even more frightening when we observe it in lives around us. At any given time we are being pursued by evil, Satan, or we are pursuing God and the things of God and receiving His reward of multiple good things. It is a clear contrast. The greatest of the good things He has for us is His love and peace. Today pursue God. #BeTheEdge
