“A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”
Solomon wants us to know that the person who does good with their estate, are generous, will see God’s blessing and it will continue to be a blessing for generations. The selfish person who uses their resources primarily to satisfy their wants and desires only, will see what they have taken and passed along to the good persons heirs. How does that work? Supernaturally is one answer but also we have many stories of the generous persons wealth continuing to grow simply as a result of God’ blessed provision. The implication is that the sinners wealth is gained through dishonest means and the law will catch them and require it from them. They do not have a legitimate claim to it so they will be called to account and have it taken. In Solomon’s day it was normal for ill gotten gain to be taken from the crooked and given to the righteous. That was a pretty direct interaction. There is often more to it these days. Ultimately our takeaway is to work and handle other people and and our resources in a manner that is above reproach and God will handle how it all settles out. Today choose to be the good person and watch your children and grandchildren be blessed. #BeTheEdge
