Proverbs 13:3 NASB

By April 13, 2021No Comments

The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.”

Here is a true thing. Just because you think it doesn’t mean you need to say it. We are probably in agreement pretty easily with that one. So here is the challenge. Just because we know the right answer or that we are right when someone else is wrong we also should not feel compelled to share it. Some of us feel a responsibility to be the one who is quick to correct others in our life. See how that works out. This verse does not tell us to guard our words in case we are wrong. Sometimes it’s best to stay quiet even when you know without a doubt that you are really right. Often having to tell others they are wrong or you are right is not helpful. Of course when it is critical to a persons safety, health or growth we need to speak into those situations. But, I would bet the majority of times we feel so inclined to speak its really not wanted or a necessity. Staying silent can be a beautiful gift to another or even the world at-large. The outcome can truly be life altering – yours and theirs. Today speak the truth in love but only when truly necessary.#BeTheEdge
