Proverbs 14:2 NIV

“Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways.”

It is amazing how clear cut Gods Word is. Right and wrong, true and false, upright and devious are laid out as clear opposites throughout His word. More important they are held up as a clear choice for us. In God there is no equivocating. I have to admit I’ve never been much of a bumper sticker Christian. This may be part of the reason. There use to be an old bumper sticker Christians liked to parade around on their cars. It said, “God said it. I believe it. That settles it.” That always made me uncomfortable. What it should have said was, “God said it. That settles it..”. In today’s world there is this mistaken notion that God takes our feelings or what makes us more comfortable into consideration and we might have the impression that His eternal Truth is now open to renegotiation. It’s not. When He declares or simply states who is upright and who is devious then that settles it. We do not get to ease into some safe gray zone. Upright living as a product of walking in reverent respect and love of God also does not get a pass when life is hard or we are being treated unfairly. If anything that is when it is required the most. During a very recent and difficult situation in my life the voices of wisdom I’ve leaned on for years have encouraged me to trust in God, pray for the other person and walk in integrity. It’s been difficult but walking any other way would not make it less so. It would inevitably make it more difficult. Today live in the full light of Gods Truth and pray for our journey. #BeTheEdge
