“Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.”
Nothing good ever came from words spoken too quickly or out of anger. At least nothing that could not have been better communicated with fore thought and calm. Fights, heart break and other destructive and sad consequences that often could have been avoided have resulted from a quick tongue, even divorces and murders. It is so tempting, some would say irresistible, to respond out of anger. There is a guttural sense that it will feel good. Typically it just makes the person on both the giving and receiving ends feel worse. A soft and gentle response not only tends to calm and heal a situation it can also minister to both people as well as other witnesses. Solomon tells us this in a few places. It is a way to reflect the heart of our heavenly Father in the midst of an often hostile world that does not see that behavior enough. Today speak with the Savior’s tone. #BeTheEdge
