“Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways.”
Our view of God is that of the eternal creator and ruler of the universe, or something less. Whichever we hold determines how we live every moment of our journey on this planet—or at least it should. When we reverently respect God for who He is, it is reflected in how we live and interact with others. It is also seen in the way we handle our personal, family, and business relationships and responsibilities. Essentially, it is like Frost’s two roads diverging. In today’s world, as followers of God, we must more and more often travel the road less taken. Walking uprightly is at times admired, yet it seems that those who despise God are increasingly being elevated for their clever deviousness. Theologians also see this verse as representing the quality and content of the followers of God in their conversation. Interestingly, this is considered a higher bar than their behavior. James affirms this by challenging us to control our tongue, showing perfect control over our life. Today, walk in reverence for God. #BeTheEdge
