Proverbs 14:1 NIV

“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

In a world undoubtedly in the hands of our sovereign God it can be easy at times to forget just how much of our lives we are ultimately responsible for. As Solomon makes clear in this verse our actions have a direct effect on the worldly outcome of our story. I said worldly because, thankfully, our eternal destiny is securely in His hands. In this verse we are reminded in the original language that laziness or sinful behavior will destroy not only our lives but those of our family as well. However when living by God’s wisdom we build a life that blesses not only us but those within our sphere of influence. God is a redeemer. Whatever we have broken He stands ready to redeem. That redemption is a powerful gift but it does not remove the consequences to those around us. I use to hear testimonies about drugs, sex, alcohol and all the other biggies and I’d occasionally think that I wish I had a dramatic testimony like they did. Over time I began to realize that my lostness was as dark as theirs but it was a blessing that God allowed me to meet Him without the painful destructive behavior some went through. The challenge is to build our lives wisely and bless those in our story. Today thank God for your testimony and live a life that builds rather than destroys. #BeTheEdge
