Here is a few looks at how other cultures communicated the same idea. “Oriental proverbs: “Sweet words, empty bands;” “To speak of honey will not make the mouth sweet;” “We do not cook rice by babbling” and the Turkish, “The language of actions is more eloquent than the language of words.” This seems to be a common truth throughout all cultures. Scripture goes so far as to say that if you don’t work you don’t eat. Words will not fill your belly. The idea that “all” hard work is profitable begs for an argument however the implication is that it is honest labor regardless of the pain and effort. It that will ultimately bring comfort and contentment. I know that when I put in a hard, full day of work I feel better and sleep better. There is something built into us that brings a sense of fulfillment to the soul from time spent working diligently at our calling. Talking about it accomplishes nothing and in our soul we know it. Billy Graham was a strong believer that work is a part of God’s creation in us. It is an integral piece of the whole “in His image” thing. He went so far as to say work will be a part of heaven.
