“An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.”
“I swear that the evidence that I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.” If you have ever been on a jury, testified in a trial or watched a crime show I’m sure you’ve hear this oath. Our court system pretty much depends on it to carry out justice. That being said we are all aware of the potential for false witnesses. Luke writes about Paul witnessing to the Jewish leaders in the book of Acts. We are called to be Jesus witnesses throughout the world. There is a reason scripture talks about us as witnesses for Christ. No doubt our words about Him need to be true. However, the larger call on us is to be like those first believers in Antioch who’s lives so represented the life of Jesus that they earned the nickname “little Christ”, literally Christian. Living a life that honestly reflects the person of Jesus does not mean we are perfect. Rather it means we live with integrity, we are honest, open, caring and vulnerable. Our life will reflect the character of the God we serve and then our words will match our life. Today the challenge is to live a life worthy of the descriptor little Christ, Christian. #BeTheEdge
