“A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13 NASB
“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” – Henri Matisse. I do not love all of Matisse’s art, but I love the heart behind this statement. I believe his point here goes well with today’s verse. It can be a challenge at times, especially with all we are facing today, to find reasons to be joyful. I visited with a dear friend yesterday who will be laid up for months from a freak accident. I have loved ones whom I have not seen in months because of the need to social distance. Add to that the fact that I’m old, tired and fat and you can quickly see the times are not screaming for me to be joyful. However, I have a smile on my face. My blessings go beyond counting and the fact that I am loved by and serve a risen Savior Who controls the universe, I can boldly say “life is good.” I’m not talking about living a phony happiness. I’m saying that there is a very real joy available to all of us, founded on the reality of the One who ultimately holds our very existence in His all-powerful, all-loving, healing hands. Today, look in His eyes and rest in His presence, and find joy. #BeTheEdge
