Proverbs 15:2 NIV

“The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.”

I have often thought about how many people seem committed to doing everything they can to make Christian beliefs seem ignorant and even destructive. They call biblical truth racist, misogynistic, homophobic and almost every other socially unacceptable concept they can think of. At times we have used scripture to make cases against people in ways God never intended. In those instances we have brought some criticism on ourselves. Other times it is exactly the message of scripture, however the intent is to help us know how to live a full and  blessed life. I love that Solomon used the word that is translated ‘adorn’ in this verse. The definition of adorn is, “make more beautiful or attractive”. You see we are to wisely make God’s truth not abrasive or condemning. We are to help others see it as desirable, the beautiful knowledge that comes directly from the heart of God. It is often harder to do that than the cheap alternative of beating people up with cheap, self serving versions of God’s words. But, we don’t really have that option. God calls us to live out His truth in such a way that they see Him in us and desire that relationship as well. Today adorn the wisdom of God in your life. #BeTheEdge
