“The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.”
Over the years, I have heard some amazing communicators. They have been able to take the great truths of scripture and make them both understandable and practical. At the same time, they often made it enjoyable. I have tried to emulate the best of what they did in my own teaching style. One of those people used to say it was a sin to bore listeners when sharing scripture. I tend to agree. Of all of them, perhaps one of the very best was Dr. Steve Brown. I probably quote him more than any of the others. He would take deep biblical truth and make it clear, exciting, and, dare I say, even beautiful. I always left his teaching inspired to put those truths into practice. Adorning knowledge looks like that. It also requires being a wordsmith to the extent that we need to choose the words we use to make God’s word clear very carefully and prayerfully. It is a great responsibility to accurately and skillfully handle God’s word, especially in our everyday conversations. Today, learn God’s truth and be careful and intentional with it.#BeTheEdge
