“The path of life leads upward for the prudent to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.”
The key to this verse is the word prudent. The dictionary tells us prudent means, “acting with or showing care and thought for the future.” To realize what lies ahead is vital in choosing the right path in life. In the same way it is also critical to continue making prudent decisions every day. This verse alludes to the fact that the wise person considers both earthly and eternal consequences of their decisions. That is both freeing and challenging. Recognizing that a decision may be good for our life on earth yet not wise from an eternal perspective should cause us pause. Maturity is coming to the realization that no matter how good a decision may seem for our life if it does not align with God’s eternal will for us it is wrong. Scripture clearly teaches us that there is no distinction between what is secular and what is sacred in other words the choices for life in this world and eternity align perfectly or we are making a wrong one. That mistake leads, as Solomon tells us, to death and destruction. Today weigh your options carefully in light of God’s truth and call on your life. #BeTheEdge
