“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”
Today I listened to one of the most successful business leaders I know share his story. His story included references to probably the most successful business leader I have ever personally known. The common and critical element in both of their stories was Jesus. At the height of their career success was an unblinking commitment to recognizing God as the owner—the Chairman of the Board—of their companies. They operated as Chairman of the Board or CEOs, but the tone and attitude of their organizations began with that foundation. I had the privilege of witnessing how that played out, and it was a beautiful thing to see. Their reputations as highly successful business leaders were well known. Over the years, I’ve had many conversations with people who didn’t know them personally but had heard about them. The phrase I heard over and over was, “Whatever they touch turns to gold.” But the truth inside their stories is that this wasn’t always the case. However, more often than not—and certainly beyond the average—they led their businesses to great success. It is true that what God touches is blessed and successful. That success isn’t always measured in dollars and cents, but often it is. The bottom line is this: whatever we do, when we truly turn it over to God, He not only establishes it, but He uses it. In the end, we know we can’t take any of the things we accumulate in this life with us. We show up hoping to hear those six great words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Today, commit your ways to your King. #BeTheEdge
