Proverbs 17:15 NIV

“Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the Lord detests them both.” ‬‬

Seems natural. Who wants the guilty acquitted unless it’s you or someone close to you that is guilty. Similarly who would condemn the innocent. However the more I pondered this verse the more I remember times I’ve seen people want to punish the innocent either because they were in their way or because they just didn’t like them. We call that our sinful nature. And God detests it. When we are less than honest about another person, either exaggerating the positive or negative in someone else’s life, we are practicing one of these detestable behaviors. Complete honesty is always God’s plan. The other thing that sets up these two detestable actions is judging. God is not only disgusted by intentional false judgments He is very disappointed by us judging others at all. He makes it clear throughout scripture that He is the only judge that matters. We are to love, encourage and work to reconcile. Judging is all His. Today leave the judging to Him. #BeTheEdge

“Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.” Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬
