Influencing culture for the Kingdom

Proverbs 17:3 NIV

“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” Proverbs 17:3 NIV

Here, Solomon is letting us know that the proper place for purifying and testing silver and gold is not sitting in a glass of milk. There is a very specific way purification is done. In the same way, the only, (let me emphasize) the one and only “appropriate place for the human heart to be tested and purified is with the Lord, Himself. His word and His truth give a wise, loving standard that will both examine and refine the inner man or woman.”* That’s not necessarily because there are not lots of people and forces in the world that won’t try. But that God’s Spirit is the only force truly with the ability to dig that deep and reveal the evil in our hearts.  Like it or not, He is committed to that process in our lives. The best thing we can do is agree to join Him in that process. The really good news is that He is not just in the revealing and removing business; He is primarily in the gold refining business. There are enough forces trying to point out and exploit our flaws. Today, join hands with the one committed to purifying and refining His image in your soul. #BeTheEdge

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NIV
