“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.” Proverbs 18:4 NIV
“Find that person who will make your whole world tremble with a few words. Apprentice yourself faithfully to him until you can make your own world tremble constantly.” ― Charbel Tadros
Wise people have great depth to their soul; however, everyone who likes to pull from their own inner depth is not offering wisdom. I love sitting and listening to a wise person in the same way that I enjoy being alone by a babbling brook or the gently rolling surf of a seashore. Both tend to cleanse and calm my mind and spirit. We are all built to desire wisdom and insight. The source and wellspring of a person’s heart tends to flow out of their mouth. For the worldly person, it comes out as stagnant at best and polluted at worst. For the godly, it is this rushing water that refreshes and quenches our thirst. Granted, if our search seems fruitless, we can get to a place of quitting the search and settling. However, we know that God has equipped and gifted His Kingdom with elders who share from a depth of life – godly wisdom that is both refreshing and transformative. Today, seek out those who refresh your soul and quietly sit in their presence. #BeTheEdge
“When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. Matthew 5:1-2a MSG
