“A wicked person listens to deceitful lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.”

Ok, let’s own this right now. I suspect we all feel pretty much let off the hook by the powerful words, “wicked, deceitful and destructive.” Right? Well let me give you a quick yet painful glimpse that God gave me. You decide if it applies to you. Gossip can seem relatively benign, basically harmless. We all know there are big lies but, come on, a little gossip. It’s just fun, interesting maybe even useful at times. Here is the rub. God hates it all. Yep, even what we deem harmless. By the way, innuendo can count as gossip as well. Ouch. The clear distinction is that God is the creator and father of all truth. Satan, according to Jesus, is “the father of lies”. Any lie finds its source in him. Gossip is gossip because it’s not ours to share, often shades the truth, doesn’t tell the whole story, misrepresents those discussed, in other words is untruth ~ a lie. With that knowledge we have to choose which father we want to represent at each moment. Let me return to Solomons words. Even when we are not the ones sharing we are acting wicked when we listen to gossip. There is plenty to hear and invent. Avoid both. Today reflect your Father and walk in The Truth. #BeTheEdge
