Proverbs 17:8 NIV

“A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it; they think success will come at every turn.”

Just so there is no doubt, bribery is evil. It is spoken against and warned about consistently from Moses through the prophets. It is deceptive. King James described them as a jewel and a precious, desirable one at that. The literal translation has it as a “stone of grace”. It will dazzle our eyes and fool our mind. We can be taken in by it and before we know it we have bartered away things of real value. Satan offers the dazzling things of this world in exchange for pieces of our soul. He offered Jesus everything this world had to offer in exchange for His worship. He does the same with us. The interesting thing about Satans offers is that at that moment they really were his to give. He offers us things in exchange for pieces of our soul and they dazzle and flash and tantalize in ways that can draw us into considering accepting them. In the same way he tempted Jesus he will tempt us. He will come where we are weak. Jesus had fasted for 40 days. He will look right to our tender spots and offer exactly what we desire at the time. He may not show up in person as he did with Jesus but he most certainly can show up in a person. One who seems harmless enough. He may show up in a thing. That very thing we want and may even believe we need and deserve. Today be ware of the tempter and, as Jesus did, respond with the Truth from God’s word. #BeTheEdge

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
