Proverbs 18:1 NIV

“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.”

This is a very arrogant person, and they are also not known for being kind. That is reason enough to avoid them. One of the most exciting things about The Edge Ministry this new year is that two very wise and godly men will be joining our ministry in leadership roles. I am fully aware that when I make decisions alone, they are often dangerous for myself and the kingdom. That is why I avoid doing so. I seek out wise counsel and partners. We have a great board of directors and a fantastic advisory board, both of whom are always available and comfortable giving input. The person Solomon is describing in this verse and the next verses is not interested in others’ thoughts or counsel. This puts them in a very dangerous position as well. They should be avoided and, as much as possible, ignored. Regardless of whether they are right or wrong in certain situations, they are not healthy to follow in general. Every one of their decisions is based solely on their own desires and what’s best for them, with no consideration for others. When they don’t need you, they ignore and avoid you. Who wants a relationship with this person? They exist to serve themselves and start fights. Nothing could be farther from the kingdom’s objectives. Obviously, we want to influence them for the gospel when possible otherwise move on. Today, avoid them. #BeTheEdge
