“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
This is one of those verses that I almost hate to touch. Sometimes I share about a verse and kind of limit what you might actually discover by pondering it on your own. That being said I want to challenge us to consider the bigness of this truth. Here “The name of the Lord” signifies every title and name God has made Himself known by throughout the totality of scripture and beyond into the realm of eternity. That right there can keep you pondering for a long, long time. Each name is powerful in its own right and descriptive of His attributes. Everyone of those attributes reminds of the strength, power and love for His people God has. It calms us as we reflect on the level of safety He provides. In Solomon’s day it was difficult to imagine a safer place to escape to than a tower, literally ‘set on high’, surrounded and fortified by all the strength and warriors of the kingdom. The New Testament gives us this same image as we live in the protection and person of Jesus. We are reminded that Jesus is in His Fathers hand while we are safety tucked inside Jesus’ hand. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can get to us there. Today boldly move out into the world and live the life of the protected. #BeTheEdge
