“A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord.” ‬‬

Kids grow up with a tendency to tell the truth until they realize the consequences are not always pleasant. At some point, with most it’s pretty early, they realize that a lie might avoid unpleasantness, at least for a while. There are those who seem to lie just because they can. It’s kinda cute in a three year old, mainly because it’s so obvious and I’m not his parent. That being said, as we get older it becomes a self defense mechanism for not wanting to take responsibility for actions gone wrong. We at times lie to others and more importantly, as we get more comfortable, we lie to ourselves. Ultimately we can even let the lie point to God. I know, hard to believe. However, I suspect to some extent we have all done it. Recently a young man went to jail for dealing drugs. A friend of his came to me and expressed their anger with God for allowing that to happen. I listened and because I didn’t know them well, I gently asked them what God should have done. Their response was that He should have stopped them. As I pondered that my heart broke. I understood. It is easy for us to blame God for what we do that goes wrong. It is imperative that we as followers own our sin and it’s consequences. We cannot truly seek forgiveness and repent of them until we do. As long as we continue to blame God for our rebellious actions we will live in rebellion to God’s love and forgiveness. Today recognize that sin in the world hurts others and own the consequences of our own sin and seek God’s forgiveness. #BeTheEdge

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah‬ ‭59:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
