Proverbs 19:8 NIV

“The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”

I had surgery on my right ankle. I was unable to drive when my granddaughter turned 5.  To make up for not being able to take her for a treat on her birthday she has request that when I can drive again I take her to get a doughnut, a box of Moon Pies (something she has never tried) and a toy. It shall come to pass. As great as those things will be to her they obviously pale in comparison to what we will receive from God as we pursue His wisdom. We will grow in our love of life and we will prosper. I do love a good Moon Pie but I really want those things God promises. I like how Solomon let’s us know that in pursuing and getting God’s wisdom we are exhibiting a love of all that is good and contributes to life. I do love life. Whether a sunny, cool day on a mountain lake or at the beach or tailgating in the fall at an Auburn football game (sorry Michael and Sandy) with family and great food good life comes in a wide variety of opportunities. The ultimate truth of this verse is that the wisdom in this verse represents the one who called Himself “The Life”. Jesus is who we pursue when we truly desire God’s perfect wisdom. Moon Pies and toys are fun. Doughnuts, especially cream filled from Krispie Kreme are spectacular, but even together they do not add up to the life found in Jesus. Today get His wisdom and learn to truly love life. #BeTheEdge
