“The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”
Yesterday, I was sitting in the recliner in my living room with lots of family around. In the midst of the activity, I heard a small voice say, “Hm, that didn’t work so well.” I glanced toward the source of the statement and saw my 7-year-old granddaughter tangled up in a wheelchair she had been playing with. I’m not sure what she had tried, but she quickly got back to her wheelchair acrobatics, obviously not repeating the previous feat. Wisdom in life is a gift from our Creator. Often, because the best way to remember what we learn is through experience, it comes during life’s journey. The foolish person repeats the same mistakes without learning. That probably explains the common saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results.” Sadly, the harder the experience, the greater the wisdom that seems to be gained. It would be a shame to neglect learning the lessons God offers through every experience, but it’s tragic when we miss what He has for us in the hardest ones. Death may be one of the hardest. It is not God’s original plan. He calls death “the final enemy.” He defeats death, and as with Jesus’ resurrection, He overcomes it and brings the ultimate victory. In the midst of this, He offers glimpses of the eternal mystery and wise insights for life. Today, don’t miss them. #BeTheEdge
