Proverbs 20:10 NIV

“Differing weights and differing measures— the Lord detests them both.”

Don’t cheat. That’s basically the message Solomon is sharing in this verse. Literally this tells us not to use two different weights, a stone and an ephah to be exact. I struggle with how many ounces are in a pound but measuring an honest  10 ounces for 10 ounces is not a challenge for me. The old saying cheaters never prosper is taking the long view. We all know cheaters may prosper in the short term but scripture makes it clear that it will always catch up to us. How could it not, God detests it. You can be sure anything God detests will not turn out well. I recently had lunch with one of The Edge partner companies CEO’s. During our lunch he shared with me how early in business, when money was tight, he received an invoice with a $1000 error in his companies favor. He redlined it and sent it back to the other company corrected. That companies accountant contacted him and thanked him for making them aware of the error and commented that had he not pointed it out they would have never known. My friend went on to tell me that he worked for a higher authority who detested cheating. Today reflect your true boss and be honest in all your dealings. #BeTheEdge
