“Ears that hear and eyes that see— the Lord has made them both.”

Solomon is using sight and hearing to represent all the senses in the body. His key point is that God gave us these as a gift. They are the primary sources of gaining wisdom and all learning. They can be used to take in both the truth of God and His creation as well as the evil around us. They are the gateway to our heart and mind. In another place Solomon reminds us that as a person thinks so they become. “We are what we think” is a common phrase in todays world. One of the reasons parents are concerned with their children’s exposure to the internet is their awareness that what they see and hear on there contributes to who they become. Filters on internet devices are helpful. Filters on what we allow to enter through our eyes and ears are even more helpful. Scripture also tells us that the eye is the window to the soul. That window not only gives a glimpse into one’s heart and soul as it reflects what they are thinking it is also a window that allows direct access to a persons soul. A quick google search of the negative effects of the internet on society and individuals can be very disturbing. As we view the universe from a Biblical Worldview we get a glimpse at the awe, wonder and true magnificent of the God of creation. As we look into His word and the works of art, literature and other creative disciplines of His people we also see and hear shadows of Him. Our sight and hearing are amazing gifts from His heart for His children. We choose what we see and hear and how that is attributed to Him or against Him. Today use all your gifts from God wisely. #BeTheEdge

“Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.” Ezekiel 12:2 NIV
