Proverbs 2:12 NIV

“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,”

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” I like C.S.Lewis. Solomon would have to. He started out as an atheist and came to Christ through discussions and debates, many of them with his dear friend JRR Tolkien. I don’t know where you look for wisdom in your life but, after God, these are two good places to start. Jesus brother tells us that God will give us wisdom if we ask. I certainly believe He often supernaturally imparts it through His spirit. However, he also expects His followers to pursue it through relationships with wise, godly people in our lives as well as reading and listening to wise people. At times it can be difficult to discern certain wicked peoples advice. Obviously if we know they are wicked we just avoid them but sometimes it can be very challenging to ascertain one’s heart. In those circumstances having access to Godly, wise counsel is critical. Possibly life saving. Even as an atheist Lewis was smart enough to listen to Godly wisdom. It changed his life and eternity. “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” (Lewis) Wise. Today reflect on who brings wisdom to your story and pay attention. #BeTheEdge

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Jesus
