Proverbs 3:12 NIV

“because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” ‬‬

If you are a parent has your child ever thanked you for disciplining them? As a child did you thank your parents? Having been both I can tell you that neither occurred in my journey. However, here Solomon tells us what we truly knew, despite not wanting to admit it, deep in our soul. We are loved. Discipline is one of the highest and costliest acts of love we give and receive. God is your friend. But, He is not trying to prove it to you. He is your eternal Father and He does want us to recognize that. Earthly parents do not always discipline correctly or even fairly. God never gets it wrong, not even a little bit. His disciple is always perfectly suited for the time and the desired result. It is not His greatest joy. He loves blessing obedience knowing that will bring us the greatest fulfillment. This verse tells us God delights in us. I don’t know about you but that seems hard to believe at times. I certainly don’t always delight in my behavior and thoughts. God looks past that to His core love for us as His treasured child. In the same way I will always love my kids and now my grandkids. There is no wrong they ever did or could ever do that would lessen or stop me from loving them. At times that love moved me to disciplinary action because I wanted the best for them. God is no different. He’s just infinitely better at it. If He disciplines you today receive His love and make the necessary correction. #BeTheEdge

““Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.” Job‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
