Proverbs 4:12 NIV

“When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.”

I recently had ankle fusion surgery. It put me in a wheelchair then on crutches for months. As I recover I am prone to both hampered steps and stumbling.  It won’t be long until I will be back in shape in case Coach Pearl or Freeze need me. I still have all my eligibility and that NIL looks pretty enticing. In all seriousness Solomon is offering a great opportunity to live a life that will operate without many of the obstacles that come to a lot of people. If we choose to live by the fathers wisdom he describes earlier we avoid many pitfalls and enjoy a much more peaceful and less stressful journey. I did not say easy or perfect. But, if we walk in the truth of God’s instruction we find many negative consequences removed from our path. That is a recipe for a smoother and happier journey. Sin brings danger. Obedience brings safety. It’s that simple. Life is dangerous enough without adding to that danger through bad choices. Scripture reminds us that living in the light of its truth will help us travel safely. Today, in a world full of tough challenges and dangerous enemies, follow God. #BeTheEdge
