“The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable— how much more so when brought with evil intent!”
I know good folks who truly believe they should get into heaven because they have done more good in this world than bad. That is both admirable and debatable. What is not debatable is that they are wrong. As in this verse we are also reminded throughout scripture that our best efforts, our good works, all come up short of God’s perfection. Ultimately the two cannot mix, certainly not in eternity. And there in lies the main issue, our sinful self can never inherit the perfection of heaven and eternity. Hence the reason for the cross. Someone will die for my (and your) sin. It will either be me or Jesus. Many years ago I accepted Jesus as the sacrifice in my place. Now, believe it or not, when God looks at me He sees perfection because He sees me covered by the sacrifice of Jesus. I’m certainly not perfect, just ask…well, everybody, but I’m forgiven for all my sin – past, present and future. Astounding! But true. What a gift. Today walk with confidence not in yourself but in the perfection of Jesus and His sacrifice on your behalf half. #BeTheEdge
