“who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,”
In context, which incidentally is the only way we should ever consider scripture, Solomon is instructing us on the the people Wisdom protects us from. Here he lets us know that as we grow in God’s wisdom we will recognize more clearly those who find pleasure and satisfaction in sin. They also celebrate and enjoy being with perverted and evil people. He also reminds us that as we pursue His wisdom and understanding we can walk confidently. Confident first that He is protecting us. How great is that! He also gives us confidence that He steers us clear of the land mines that would trip us up, or more specifically blow us up. The ones laid by Satan to destroy our marriages, our children, our jobs and other relationships. They are neutralized by God’s protection and intervention. If that’s not good news to you read it again. Even a marginal awareness of the world today is a cautionary tale. No sane person doesn’t look for protection today. Some buy weapons, others seek that protection stockpiling cash and other wealth, many try to acquire power and powerful connections. Some of these can certainly tip the scale in certain situations however ultimately none of them is fool proof. Only God. Lest you miss this I repeat, only God. Nothing else offers perfect protection as we walk in His wisdom and understanding. As a hero of mine who has walked on a dangerous campus with threats about her safety always present says, “I can only die once and that date is in the hands of my all powerful God.” (Brelinda Sullen) Today live out that truth, it is empowering. #BeTheEdge
