Proverbs 3:14 NIV

“for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.”

This is another example of Solomon’s commitment to keep reminding us of the unmatched value of Godly wisdom. Multiple times throughout the book of Proverbs he comments on how it exceeds the worth of anything else. In the early 1800’s gold was worth about $18 an ounce. Today it closed at $1,920 an ounce. That’s yielding a strong return. In this verse Solomon let’s us know that that growth is nothing compared to the return we receive for living by Godly wisdom. Yes it’s not necessarily a financial growth he is telling us about but his point is that what wisdom gives us is way beyond just financial benefit. Recently I heard a wealthy gentleman comment on how much wealth is necessary by asking how many hamburgers can a person eat. The point is that after a certain level financial gain becomes a bit meaningless. Obviously that depends a bit on how much Kingdom good one chooses to do with it but the point is that there is no ceiling on the value of growth in wisdom. The profit and returns of walking in God’s wisdom are immeasurable, they are eternal and in that realm there is no limit. Today chase the important wealth – wisdom. #BeTheEdge
