Proverbs 2:17 NIV

“who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.”

Today I had lunch with the man who ordained me over 40 years ago. It was a great time of reflection but even more so it centered on what God was doing in our lives and families today. It was great! Many theologians see this verse as referring to a woman who leaves her husband and breaks her wedding vows. However, most also agree that it goes way beyond that. It also challenges us to remember those who guided us in the faith from an early age. The word literally translates as ‘one we have accustomed ourselves to or are familiar with’. It is most simply translated ‘a friend’. I’m headed to Indiana this weekend to launch The Edge ministry with a large group of business leaders. I’m very excited about that but while I’m there I will be spending time with 3 men I’ve been involved in ministry with for over 100 years collectively. We will laugh, tell stories, talk ministry and even explore future ministry together. This is the heart of The Kingdom on earth. Today consider making a call or sending a note to that person in your journey. #BeTheEdge
