Proverbs 22:1 NIV

“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1 NIV

The idea of choosing either a good name or great riches can, at first glance, seem to be a fair choice. This verse however is not saying you necessarily have to choose one or the other. If you pursue wealth at all costs, including your integrity, then it certainly stands to reason that you are choosing riches over a good reputation. I know wealthy people with stellar reputations because the goal was never money at all costs. It is conceivable that someone can pursue honor and reputation to the point that it can trap them in vanity. Unless we pursue God first everything else can become the wrong pursuit. If you are living the life God created you for, reputation, wealth, and anything else God intends for you will naturally fall into place. Ultimately all we really need to know is that God loves us, and we are valued in His eyes. Today, pursue God and let reputations and wealth follow as He chooses. #BeTheEdge
