Proverbs 22:17 NIV

“Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach,”

Theologians believe that this is the introduction to a group of wise saying by a collection of writers that Solomon pulled together. We are made aware of just how hard it is for many of us to humble ourselves and look to the wisdom of others especially God. It is part of the fallen nature to think we don’t really need someone else’s counsel. We like to think we know it all or at least can figure things out on our own. As we mature in the faith, actually the sign of that maturity is the realization that we don’t know so much and God’s wisdom is vital to our journey. It’s clearly not just about head knowledge. It is about taking wisdom into our spirit and letting it change us. It is the beginning of being conformed into the image of Christ. The greatest challenge to yielding entirely to God is that we truly love our own plans. We hang on tightly to our blind belief in our truth. As Solomon prepares to bring some new wisdom to his readers he is challenging us to look deep into our heart and make sure we have acknowledged our flawed wisdom and turned to God’s. Today filter your planning through His Word. #BeTheEdge

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
