Proverbs 22:2 NIV

“Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.” ‬‬

I saw a guy walking on a country road as I was driving to church at the lake yesterday. We exchanged a wave. I admired how I blessed him by noticing and acknowledging his presence. 90 seconds later it began to rain. I thought what a shame that he was about to get soaked. I didn’t go offer him a ride. I wondered if he had a weapon and would be dangerous. I continued driving to church. I’m not proud of this story, especially as I reflect on today’s verse. Every believer I know believes in this verse. Where it breaks down is how it is fleshed out. If we look at someone who is a unique, supernatural, eternal creation of the all knowing, all powerful creator and sustainer of the universe it should impact how we relate to them. We should look and treat every living person with awe and reverence. I don’t. I did not like typing those two words. I want to believe and share that I treat all men and women as priceless children of God. I want to treat them as though Jesus would die for them if they were the only person alive on earth. He would you know. He loves them as much as He loves you or me. I’m ashamed of me. I will do better. If that man I passed was a pile of gold bars I would have stopped and picked them up. He is worth infinitely more than all the gold in the world. If he was a “famous” person I recognized I would have stopped and insisted they ride with me. Today see whoever you encounter as God’s prized child and respond appropriately. #BeTheEdge

“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
