Proverb’s 22:2 NIV

“Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.”

At this writing there is just below 11 million job openings in the US. That is a crushing number in most industries. Almost every business owner I know is looking to higher people today. In Solomon’s day there were very distinct lines between the haves and the have nots. There was only rich and poor. The middle class, as such, did not exist. Throughout Proverbs the writer teaches us that God intends the rich to care for the poor. It is a mutually necessary relationship. The rich employ the poor while the work of the poor creates wealth. One is not good and the other bad. In God’s sovereign design we have this symbiotic relationship. It is when those with resources take advantage of those without or perceive their wealth to make them better that God’s design is intercepted. They think they are of more value than those without. It’s also problematic when those without envy those with. As in all of God’s creation there is a balance that makes things work. Whatever our financial state or condition we have identical value in the eyes of God. I use to tell kids there are only two kinds of people in God’s eyes. Not rich or poor, old or young, black or white, ugly or pretty, but the only distinction is those who are His or those who are not His. Saved or lost. Today recognize the inherent value in every one you encounter as a child of God and treat them accordingly. #BeTheEdge
