“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.”
This verse is talking about a person with a “bountiful eye.” They actively look for opportunities to bless those in need. What a wonderful description to be known by. I know this person. She never asked about those in need, nor did she talk about how to help them. She simply did it. I caught her a few times, and she would just smile and continue to bless the one she discovered in need. It might be with food, or it could be clothes. For years, I’ve had a heart for children who don’t have coats in cold weather. I can’t imagine one of my grandchildren shivering because they didn’t have a warm jacket to wear to school on a cold day. I’ve tried to make coats available whenever I’ve noticed a need. School administrators even notify me when they discover a student who needs one. As a nonprofit organization leader, I made sure we provided hundreds of coats. This all began when, years ago, I noticed her going through a closet and pulling out an unused jacket to take to a child who needed it. Once, she made one of my favorite meals. In my mind, I looked forward to enjoying it later that day. At mealtime, however, the meal was nowhere to be found. It turns out she had taken it to a family in town that she discovered was going through hard times. Today, look at those you encounter with God’s bountiful eye. #BeTheEdge
