Proverbs 23:10 NIV

“Do not move an ancient boundary stone or encroach on the fields of the fatherless,”

This was apparently a big deal in Solomon’s day. Multiple places he gives a very stern warning about trying to steal land from orphans by moving the property lines on their land. In chapter 15 God also warns about messing around with widows boundaries as well. He is clearly telling us to avoid enriching ourselves by hurting someone else. He also makes it clear we are not to invade the rights of others especially the helpless and alone. They are easy targets. In one commentary the caution is described this way, “Don’t remove their perpetual landmark.” For us God’s word has set some perpetual landmarks that we are not to try and reset.  Today, and in all fairness for centuries, man has tried to change God’s boundaries in every area of life. Often these efforts victimize the most innocent and needy among us. Right now we are watching the tearing apart of critical elements of our social fabric that represent God’s divine design. We are also probably watching some that had evolved into sin being destroyed. Our challenge is to run it all through a clear biblical worldview and hold firm to those that are intended to be a part of God’s kingdom. Today protect the weak and walk in honesty and integrity. #BeTheEdge
