Man I wish I had… I wish I could afford… I wish, I wish, I wish. Listen, there is nothing wrong with wanting certain things or opportunities that we could enjoy or help us build what we believe would be a better future for ourselves and those we love. The longing for good things and better conditions has its source in a very cool place. God built in us a longing for Him and the things of His kingdom. As with so much that goes wrong in life, satan has taken and twisted what was initially a reflection of God’s nature built in all of His creation including us. We long for the eternity we were created to share with Him. We can slowly allow the reflections of that eternity, beautiful sunsets, a peaceful lake, an angelic voice, to draw us to a place short of God’s best. It can be tempting to let a longing for God become a motivation to chase counterfeits. By definition a counterfeit is a cheap knock off of the real thing. God offers peace that goes beyond understanding to the heart of those who follow Him. The knock off offers a false peace through alcohol and other cheap escapes from life’s challenges. Don’t resent or ignore the longing for the eternal in you. Embrace it. Today love and serve God and He will provide what meets all your needs. #BeTheEdge
