Proverbs 22:3 NIV

“The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”‬‬

There are a number of examples of this verse modeled in scripture. One of the best might be Noah and the ark. He was warned of impending doom and in the face of others blindness and ridicule, built the ark. As he and his family climbed inside and locked it tight, took refuge, the world laughed outright, looked on bemused or totally ignored them. Those responses changed shortly after the first rain storm in history to that point began. There is an old Spanish proverb that says, “That which the fool does in the end, the wise man does at the beginning.” One of the reasons the Bible writers encourage listening to Elders is because there is a certain amount of experience gained in a longer life. Knowing what is around the bend down stream is invaluable in seeing what is coming and determining how to navigate or even avoid the dangers ahead. Youth is know to bring a sense of indestructibility with it. Sometimes it leaves the person vulnerable to unseen dangers. They can at times look down on the caution of the older more experienced travelers in life. The penalty can be brutal. Even deadly. Most significantly the prudent sees what waits in eternity. The foolish doesn’t until it is too late. Today slow down, look at what’s coming and allow God to lead your next steps. #BeTheEdge
