Proverbs 2:4 NIV

“and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,”

It’s not long until Easter. I love everything about Easter, even more than Christmas. It’s springtime, usually nice weather and life is coming back in nature. What’s not to like? One of my favorite things is watching my youngest grandkids hunt for eggs. There are always some plastic eggs to find with candy in them but mostly they are hard boiled eggs they dyed the day before. The excitement of the hunt is incredibly entertaining. Grown ups don’t get that excited about eggs and candy. If they are like me they wait and raid the little ones treasure trove. On a different level was the Californian gold rush of 1848. People already itching to go west took off to find the recently discovered treasure. From 1897-1904 the Alaska gold rush restarted what had happened almost 50 years earlier in California. Men went crazy chasing the dream of riches. I’m always surprised after reading about the fever for treasure how lackadaisically we at times approach the search for God’s treasures by comparison. An eternal being, creator of life and the universe, leader of an army of billions of angles wrote a book especially for us. It offers the most pure, powerful, life altering truths and yet we seldom dig into it with the kind of energy, anticipation, and enthusiasm of a child looking for a colored egg let alone a miner pursuing gold. However that is exactly what Solomon is entreating us to do. I suspect we are not always convinced of the priceless value of what He offers. Today recommit to the hunt. #BeTheEdge
