Proverbs 3:4 NIV

“Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

The final four is going on right now. If you are unaware of what that is Google it. Suffice it here to say it is the final leg of a season long pursuit of the championship. People still talk about final four teams from decades ago and certainly those teams who won.,it’s a big deal. There is a group of outraged fans because a country music artist has canceled his concert so that he can attend a historic matchup with his favorite team. It’s a big deal. However, in this verse Solomon tells us that the God of all eternity gives us the opportunity to win favor and a good name with Him. Ok, that might not sound as exciting as winning a national championship or a gold medal but on reflection I can only guess at who were a few national champions and even less gold medal winners. I suspect you are the same. I can name a few men and women who won a good name and honor from God and men. Each year for the past 40 I have brought some of them to town to speak at events. I am always taken by the fact that they almost seem unaware of the amount of respect they are held in. Even more so I know a couple dozen men and women in my everyday journey who also have won that from the Lord. Conversely I have watch a few fall and destroy that gift over the years. One of my personal goals is to finish life with my reflection of the God I love and serve intact. It is good to compete in athletic events, it can even be fun to win trophies and titles. In the end they will rust and fade but to be rewarded honor and a good name from the God of eternity will never fade. Today pursue knowing God and let Him establish your future. #BeTheEdge
