“Then he taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.”

Solomon is giving another glimpse into his relationship with his dad.here we find King David telling his son to hold on tight to what he teaches him. Pretty bold claim about it giving him life. I’d like to think my advice to my kids was always that valuable. Don’t lick your knife was probably helpful but I doubt it was life giving. As with David the only stuff I passed along that I can guarantee was life giving and even eternity altering cane directly from God’s word. Trust God, find the source of all truth in Him, give your life to Him through the sacrifice of His Son. That sort of thing mattered. Notice I did not tell them my interpretation of God’s word was always life giving. That has changed at times over the years. However God and His Word as He put it is “the same yesterday, today and forever.” Consider what you are passing along to your kids or others in your sphere of influence. Don’t play in traffic will always be great counsel. We should take the role of parent and leader seriously and share what we know can be of value with those in our care. The eternal life giving truths are imperative that we find creative and honest was to share whether by words or deeds, usually both. Today hang on to the words of truth God has given you and be sure to pass them along. #BeTheEdge
