“Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked,”
Nobody really says “fret” much anymore but it’s actually a pretty good word. It kind of brings a nice edge to the typical words worry or to be anxious. The dictionary defines fret as “be constantly or visibly worried or anxious.” Constantly or visibly describes a lot of the world today. The American Psychiatric Association says “Anxiety disorders are the most common of mental disorders. They affect nearly 30% of adults at some point in their lives”. Other credible sources put the number at 4 in 10. Needless to say our country is consumed with anxiety. As of last year 76% of us have security systems for protection of our stuff and our lives. Face it, as a society we are fretting. All with a God who offers us safety and protection in Him. As we walk faithfully with Him we can be confident that nothing will enter our story that doesn’t first pass through Him. Our time of death is appointed before we are born. A friend who is the principal of a rough inner city school where she has been threatened with violence and death by the gangs walks without fear. She boldly proclaims that the gangs don’t dictate her safety or when she will depart this planet. That is all in God’s hands. Today live that truth.#BeTheEdge
