“thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins.”

Ever driven by a run down place, especially out in the country, and wondered what its story was? Who lived or worked there? What happened to them? How did it go from new and functional to this state of waiting to be practice for the local fire department. Solomon explains that process very succinctly as it relates to certain peoples lives. Laziness, the deadly sin of slothfulness. Most exactly he calls them sluggards. That’s not a name to be desired. In Vocabulary dot com we read, “A sluggers is a lazy, sleepy, slow-moving person. They are likely to oversleep and even snooze through class or work. Of you’re alert and hard-working, no one will ever call you a sluggard.” Want to avoid the sluggard title? Stay alert and hard-working. Sluggards are quitters. More to the point, they look for a reason to give up. I was in a conversation the other day with a business leader who commented about an member of his leadership team who he saw as always quitting at the first sign of a challenge, they were not problem solvers. They wanted to be a leader he said but it was a struggle. They would not do the diligent work of a leader. Their personal life and business future was headed for rot, decay and overgrown debris. Today be diligent about what God has called you to do. #BeTheEdge

“and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬
