“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”
The older I get the more I realize the immeasurable value of having a peaceful heart. On a recent beach trip I rediscovered that value in a fresh way. No internet service and very poor cell reception left me with a good book, beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico across the sugar sand of Santa Rosa beach. Add to that ice cold tea and grand children popping in at random times to share really bad dad jokes. Peace restored. I told my daughter that everything about my physical condition improved during that week. I believe even my eyesight improved. Could be I just stopped and look at things more clearly. Conversely, BibleRef tells us that “Envy, jealousy, angst, and bitterness cause sickness. Envy acts like a cancer, consuming the envious person from the inside.” As with all comparisons in Solomons’s writing the distinction between the two options are clear and only one, a peaceful heart, is even remotely desirable for a follower of God. Today pursue peace and find life. #BeTheEdge
